All Things Are Possible with God

Do we really believe this? I love how The Message words this passage from

Scripture. We are no doubt more used to the ESV or similar translations: But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26 ESV) No matter how you say it, the bottom line is that God can do anything. We forget that all too often.
But we also forget that we have the Power in us to accomplish what may seem to be impossible. In Matthew 17:20, Jesus also says: For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you. (ESV)
It makes me wonder why, when we are dealing with the mountains of life – relationship issues, finances, etc. we don’t go to God first. How many of you try to figure it out and then, when you can’t think of anything else, go to God in prayer and ask Him to “fix it”? Me, too.
Even when we do go to God, I don’t think we always really expect Him to fix it. It can seem more like a gripe session than an honest plea for help. I wonder what the result would be if we prayed with the assurance that our God can do anything. Now, it is true that His Will may be a “no,” but how will we know unless we ask with childlike faith?
It seems we place human limitations on our God – a God who has no limitations. He knows everything, sees everything, is everywhere, and can do anything. Why do we minimize a God who created the universe and everything in it in six days? Parted the Red Sea? Died and rose again for our salvation? Fed 5,000 men plus women and children with minimal rations? You get what I’m saying, right.
Why, when we need something, do we forget that God is the God of the impossible? Why do we limit Him when we need something – big or small – when we have so much evidence that He can do anything?
And why do we forget that the same Power that rose Jesus from the dead lives in us by the presence of the Holy Spirit?
This awesome God of impossible things is a God who invites us to come to Him with all of our prayers – big and small – with the expectancy that He can do all that we need.
Let’s quit putting God in a box and limiting Him in our hearts and minds. Let’s remember that we worship a huge God who can do huge things. We just need to sit back and watch as He works not only in our lives, but in and through us in the lives of others.
Blessings, 😊 Ceri
