God is Love

Happy Wednesday, Everyone. 😊 How often in your life have you heard this phrase? How do you feel when you hear it? Is it something that touches your heart or is it just something that people say because it sounds good?

In John 3:16, we hear that God loved the world so much that he sent Jesus to die for us so that our sins could be forgiven and we could be reconciled with His Father – and ours.

In 1 Corinthians, Paul commits an entire chapter to Love. He tells us that faith, hope and love abide, but nothing is greater than love.

In all of the Gospels, Jesus commands us to love God and love our neighbor.

Scripture is covered in the Love of God, from the first promise of a savior in Genesis, to His release of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, to His ultimate act of Love on the Cross of Calvary.

We cherish this Love that God has for us. But I think sometimes we take it for granted. We are not only called to accept this beautiful Love that God gives us. We are called to reflect that Love into the world.

One of most difficult of Jesus’ commands is to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Prayer is an act of Love and every time we pray for someone, we are sharing the Love of God with them. And, yes, we are to pray for our enemies and show them the Love of God. That’s hard, but if we are to truly reflect God’s Love to the world, it is something we must do.

Who do you find it easiest to show love to? Hardest? How do you show God’s Love to those you find hardest to love? How do you show God’s Love to those who are closest to you? Do you think we can sometimes take for granted that those who are closest to us just know that we love them?

Do you think that we sometimes take God’s Love for granted? How can we make sure that we live into the Love that God has for us and reflect that Love to everyone? What are some ways that we can keep from taking God for granted – not just His Love, but His grace, as well?

What are the little things that you do for those in your circle that show them that you love them.

How can we make our life’s work loving others as God loves us? What would the world look like if everyone did that?

Some things to ponder as we enter into a season of Love.

Blessings, 😊 Ceri
