Take A Look Around

Happy Wednesday, Everyone. đ Full transparency here â this is not the first passage I had in mind for this week. But God was very clear during my Scripture reading that this was the passage He wanted. I always try to please the Boss, so here we are. đ
Â
As I thought about it, it made perfect sense â of course it did, right? It was God writing the script. Here is Abraham who, in his goodness, allowed Lot to choose where he would settle and Abraham would take whatâs left. That ended up being Canaan â the Promised Land for the Israelites.
Â
The land that Lot took was the Jordan River Valley. Lots of water and pasture and other wonderful things to help with feeding and tending to livestock. Canaan, on the other hand, didnât seem to be so well equipped to handle the needs of Abrahamâs herds and flocks.
Â
Can you imagine Abraham standing and looking all around him â just as God told him â and wondering just what was going to happen here. He was leaving behind lush meadows and moving into the desert.Â
Â
Iâm thinking that some of us might be wondering the same thing as we step into 2026. What we stepped out of in 2025 was known to us. It may not have been all that we had hoped for, but at least we had bearings. We may be stepping into 2026 just as Abraham stepped into the Promised Land.
Â
But just like He did for Abraham, God has plans for us. As we look at the year stretched before us, what do we see? God told Abraham that what he was looking at was the land that would be given to his offspring. And Abraham trusted God, even though he didnât have any children, yet. He knew that God spoke a promise to him that would be fulfilled. He didnât have to know how or when, he just had to know and trust the One who made the promise.
Eventually, Abrahamâs grandson, Jacob (who became know as Israel) and his descendants moved into the Promised Land. This was after the Exodus when they were lead out of Egypt by Moses, Godâs chosen instrument for this purpose.Â
Â
God tells us, too, to âlook around.â 2026 is a blank canvas. What are the possibilities and opportunities that God is providing for us? Rather than looking back at 2025, letâs look forward to 2026 and see where God takes us on this unique adventure.
Â
What is God calling you to do in 2026? Is it a bit out of your comfort zone? A lot of your comfort zone? What I have found in my life is that if God calls me to it, He will provide all that I need to complete the mission He is calling me to. He will do the same for you, too.
Â
Abraham trusted God to provide all that was needed to fulfill the promise made in that Land of Canaan. He does the same for you and me. He will surprise us with where He takes us in this new year and beyond. And I canât wait to see what that adventure looks like for all of us.
Â
Blessings and Love, đ Ceri
