Clay Pots Hold Priceless Treasure

Happy Wednesday, Everyone. 😊 God has given us another paradox this week. How can we, ordinary clay pots, hold the priceless treasure of the Gospel? Yet that is exactly what our passage for this week is telling us.

Yes, like Jesus’ first disciples, we are all ordinary people – clay pots if you will. And so we stay – until we are filled by the Holy Spirit with the treasure that is Jesus.

That turns us into light-bearers. An ordinary clay pot on the outside, but equipped and gifted with God’s Power on the inside. So while we may not appear to be any different on the outside, we have the power to do all that God has called us to do and be.

And that can be a scary thing, right? Just ask the disciples. Just look in the mirror and ask yourself. Just ask anyone who has ever gotten up to speak or preach about Jesus – or anyone who has been called to write about Him.

As uncomfortable as it may be for us, we need to understand that that treasure is not meant to be confined to our own ordinary clay pots. It is mean to be shared with the world – our little part of the world or the entire global community.

How do you feel when you realize that you are carrying the priceless treasure of Jesus within you? How do you feel when you realize that that treasure is not meant for you alone, but is meant to be shared with all the world? It is a message that is meant to be proclaimed from the rooftops.

And, while we do so, we give all glory to God – because He is the Power that makes our witness possible. He is the Power embedded in the treasure. He is the only reason we can stand as ordinary clay pots proclaiming the extraordinary message of hope and salvation in Jesus.
