Unexpected Light

Happy Wednesday, Everyone. đ Sunrises are one of the favorite parts of my day. Sunsets run a close second. đThis passage from 2 Samuel reminds me of a sunrise. Darkness is all around and then the sun breaks through and lights up the sky.
Â
After God delivered him from his enemies and from Saul, David wrote a song of deliverance to honor God. This passage is part of that song. I think it is easy to see how David felt that his deliverance was sudden light sent from God to drive out the darkness that surrounded. Have you ever felt like this when God delivered you from a situation that was causing you distress or despair? All of a sudden, God showed up and made all things well.
Â
This passage also reminds me of the story of the conversion of Saul on the Road to Damascus. He was blinded by a bright light and was spoken to by Jesus. His path was changed and he was led out of darkness into the Light of Jesus.
Â
Godâs Light doesnât just lead us to a new day â He leads us to a new life. A life dedicated to Him and His work. He lights the path before us so that we can live into all that He created us to be and do.
Â
That light helps us to not only know the path He wants us to take, it also gives us the light to see how to accomplish all that He wants us to do. I ca tell you that Godâs light is the only reason I am able to be and do all that He wants me to be and do. I know I fall short, but I also know that the light breaks through the darkness and provides me with the encouragement to move forward. Without God to light my path, I would not be able to do anything good.
Â
As with all of us, David faced much adversity in his life. Yes, he was the king of Israel. Yes, he was wealthy. But he also had many enemies and he succumbed to the temptation to sin on more than one occasion. He is so much like us â sinners in need of the light of God to guide us out of the darkness and into the light. I wonder how many times he revisited this song of deliverance in his life.
Â
Will this song of deliverance resonate in your heart as you journey forward in your life? How do you experience Godâs light in the dark places of your life? How does His light shining on your path guide, lead, and direct you into all of your tomorrows?
Â
As you see the sun rise on all of your tomorrows, may you also make note of the light of God flooding your path with love and light and chasing out the darkness. In that love and light, I pray that we would all be and do all that God has created us to be and do. Â
Â
Blessings and Love, đ Ceri
