Faithful Stewards
Happy Wednesday, Everyone. šĀ This passage may make us do a double take. Paul isnāt just talking about himself ā he is talking about all of us. We are all servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. And we are all to be faithful to all that we are called to be and do.
Ā
Itās easy for us to think that pastors, deacons, and other church āpeepsā are the ones who are to be sharing the Word and expanding the Kingdom. But Paul says āus.ā Not just a select few. He is talking to an entire congregation.
Ā
That can make us feel a bit uncomfortable when we realize that we, too, are servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. And it can create not a little bit of fear. It seems like such a big thing. And, yet, we are all called to the same mission.
We have all been gifted differently by the Holy Spirit. We all have different jobs to do in the Kingdom. While some of us may be preachers, others may be teachers and healers and any one of a number of other roles. Peter tells us that we are all part of the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:9). We are all ministers of the Word. It is our calling as Christians to lead others to the Truth of the Word, who is Jesus.
Ā
We are all called to serve as we are called, in whatever capacity, and wherever that may lead us. We are all called to use the specific gifts we have been given and to steward them well, so that the Kingdom may be expanded and others know the Love and Grace of our God.
Ā
Itās not always easy and sometimes it is downright scary. But God always supplies all we need so that we can be faithful servants and faithful stewards. We may not understand all the mysteries of God, but we can still share them with others and help them to see that faith is about accepting the mysteries of God while not totally understanding them.
Ā
How can you serve Christ today through your service to others? How will you steward your gifts so that the Love and Grace of Jesus shine through you? May we all live into this passage each and every day of our lives as we seek to fulfill Godās Purpose for each and every one of us.
Ā
Blessings and Love, šĀ Ceri
