The Best Laid Plans
Happy Wednesday, Everyone. đ Do you have a to-do list? How long is it? Do you write things on it just so you can cross them off and feel like youâve accomplished something? Do you ever ask God what He wants on your to-do list?
Â
Crazy questions, right? But letâs get down to brass tacks. Most, if not all, of us have a to-do list. If yours is anything like mine, itâs way too long. And, yes, I do write down things Iâve done so that I can cross them out and feel like Iâve accomplished something.Â
Â
We all make plans. I think itâs probably part of our DNA. But weâre not always good at asking God about our plans. And we arenât always real receptive when those plans get changed. Even small things can throw us off-course and make us grumpy.
Â
This Proverb doesnât tell us not to make plans. Going through life without a plan is difficult and not the ultimate in wisdom. But it is important that we include God in those plans. And then, on a daily (or so) basis, allow Him to choose the steps we will take to get there.
Â
As we start our day, what if we ask God about the tasks He would have us accomplish that day. Or what if we ask the Holy Spirit to guide us as we move from one task to another. I have found that when I do this (and I donât do it perfectly, believe me), I get more done than I could if I were making the decisions and I sleep better at night knowing that I have partnered with God rather than going it alone.
Â
Itâs not easy to give up control. And I know that it can be the hardest thing we do, especially when God throws us a curve ball and asks us to do something that we donât feel prepared to do. But I have found that when I let God drive, we get there faster, safer, and more effectively. And thatâs a win no matter how you look at it. đ

Blessings and Love, đ Ceri
