Happy Wednesday, Everyone. 😊 This is a beautiful passage. Jesus is making a point about the fact that we shouldn’t worry about what we wear or how we look. He reminds us that the wildflowers don’t do anything and they are beautiful just as they are.

It is good to pause and think about why we care so much about how we look. God has given each of us natural beauty – inside and out. But we seem very worried about our appearance. I’m overweight – or underweight. My hair doesn’t look just right. Maybe I need a different type of make-up – or maybe none at all. My husband insists that I look wonderful without any make-up. I look in the mirror and wonder about his sanity. LOL

The irony is that “dressing for success” doesn’t really mean much to God. He loves us just the way He made us. He’s not as worried about our clothes as He is about our hearts. We can take a lesson from the beauty of the wildflowers. They don’t “toil or spin” as other translations put it, but even Solomon in all his glory wasn’t dressed as one of them.

The flowers we saw in Yellowstone and the Tetons were gorgeous. And they didn’t spend any time worrying about how they looked. They simply grew as God directed, showed their faces to the sun, and were dazzling in their appearance as they graced us with their beauty.

How much do you worry about your appearance? Do you think that God loves you more or less based on how you look, dress, etc.? What would happen, if just like the wildflowers, we all depended only on our natural beauty to shine through. To shine not only for each other, but shine to reflect the love and light that come from God in us?

Maybe a challenge is in order – no make-up for the next week. Do you think that may change the way you look at your own natural beauty and the beauty of others?
