What To Do With These Gifts from God

Happy Wednesday, Everyone. 😊 

God has brought another interesting question this week. If the gifts and call of God are never rescinded, what does that mean for us in our lives?

What if we are hesitant about using those gifts and answering that call that God has placed on our hearts?

As I was mulling all of this over, I had a very insightful conversation with a dear sister friend. And some very intriguing thoughts came to mind. Let’s see where God takes this thought train. 

Each of us are a part of God’s family. The Holy Spirit has gifted each of us with certain gifts and we are to use those gifts in the purpose for which we have been created. God has a plan – and a job – for us and He provides everything we need to accomplish that plan. God never takes those gifts away. They are always there, waiting to be used by us in service to God and others.

It’s kind of like a huge puzzle. Each of us is a piece of that puzzle and only we can fit into the space reserved for us in that puzzle. So what happens if we don’t use the gifts or answer the call?

Well, I’m not totally sure God ever lets that happen. If you ask some, they will tell you that God closed every other door in their lives until they finally “surrendered” and used their gifts in answer to the call. 

Honestly, I’ve never met anyone who went an entire lifetime without using God’s gifts and/or answering the call of God on their heart. Whether it is an occasional Spirit nudge or a full-on vocation, we are gifted to complete our piece of God’s puzzle. And I believe, to some extent, we all do that.

But … do we do it with conviction and a generous spirit? That may be an entirely different topic for another day. I think we can leave this topic at acknowledging that God does, indeed, provide each of us with our own specific gifts. And He calls us to use those gifts, which are never going to go away, in furtherance of His Purpose of each of our lives. That means that all of us together are living out His Purpose for the entire world.

That is an immense task that can only be accomplished when we are connected to and abiding in Jesus.
